Because of the high efficiency of the power electronic converters, ideal regulation of their outputs makes the converter appears as a constant power load seen by its front end power stage. So they can be modeled as a negative resistance around an operating point. As a result, when such a converter is connected to a controlled or uncontrolled power source subsystem, the risk of instability has to be unpacked.
