This thesis involved a review of the literature which found that mild maternal depression is unlikely to have a significant impact on infant disorganised attachment. Further studies demonstrated that antenatal depression and anxiety influenced the relationship between maternal bonding in pregnancy and postpartum, with chronic symptoms having a greater effect.<br /
