Background: Inflammatory processes have been associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), potentially allowing for preventive therapy by anti‐inflammatory agents such as aspirin. However, the effect of chronic aspirin on the incidence of AF has not been evaluated in a prospective cohort followed for an extended period. Methods and Results: This study was comprised of a prospective cohort of 23 480 male participants of the Physicians' Health Study.
