Objective: The determinants of anemia during both pregnancy and postpartum recovery remain incompletely understood in sub-Saharan African women. Subjects/methods: In a prospective cohort study among pregnant women, we assessed dietary, biochemical, anthropometric, infectious and sociodemographic factors at baseline.
