Today, bidimensional (2-D) digital recursive filters find some applications in image processing, in linear prediction coding fo r example. In order to be usefull, these filters must be stable . This paper deals with the stability of 2-D digital recursive filters . At first, elementary 2-D filtering notions and stability conditions are given . Various equivalent stability conditions are thus given, deduced from geometrical properties of the Schur polynomial set . Moreover, they are classified according to their good or bad adaptatio n to a stability test algorithm .
