Lighting: beyond energy efficiency and visual comfort.

Indoor lighting systems should always accomplish both energy savings and visual comfort requirements. Indeed, at today, new technologies are available in order to dynamically control daylight access and to properly integrate it with electric light. This is especially true in work spaces, where people spend much of their time and where lighting quality should include both visual and non-visual effects on humans, i.e. where effects of lighting on alertness, productivity, wellbeing and health are considered as well. Specific competence is necessary to properly integrate automatic control system and lighting system, starting from the design stage, in order to avoid shortcomings as well as a scarce acceptance by users and at the same time in order to take the most advantage of the great potentialities of these new technologies
