Sonar systems are particularly important hecause they are the only systems allowing detection with reasonnable ranges of ohjects imhedded in oceans, these objects being fishes, mines or suhmarines . Futhermore, the only sensorial perception of submarines is ohtained through them . Sonar signal processings are then particularly important . This article prescrits the « why » and « how » of underwater acoustics, and the signais and noises to process .
