Jung visited India just once, in 1938, bringing back mixed feelings from the encounter, which he put down in two papers: “The dreamlike world of India” (1939) and “What India can teach us” (1939); to which must be added the memoir recorded in Aniela Jaff\ue9’s “Erinnerungen, Tr\ue4ume und Gedanken von C. G. Jung”. What he relates about that voyage offers us a precious clue to understand not only the mood in which he undertook it, but also the conditions and the limits of his general attitude towards India
