La notion de kakon . Histoire et enjeux psychopathologiques

International audienceThis paper examines the history of the notion of kakon and its psychopathological implications based on the works of three researchers. The notion emerged at the end of the 1910s from the studies of neurologist Constantin von Monakow on the biological features and the liberating effects of hysterical attacks and psychotic crisis. This notion later found a place in the new era of the dynamic psychiatry thanks to two French psychiatrists, Paul Guiraud and Jacques Lacan. The first used it in 1931 in the frame of his research on murders without motives. From 1932, the second psychiatrist referred to it four times, finding in it the basis of a logic of the act according to which the subject, while hitting the other, is trying to touch oneself (1946). Whereas the notion of kakon seems to have been forgotten nowadays in the neurological field, it continues to shed light on the clinical approach to the act, as several recent publications have shown.Cet article retrace l’histoire de la notion de kakon et en examine les enjeux psychopathologiques, à partir des travaux de ses trois promoteurs essentiels. Elle émerge, à la fin des années 1910, des études du neurologue Constantin von Monakow sur les caractéristiques biologiques et les effets libératoires des attaques hystériques et des crises psychotiques. Puis, cette notion trouve place dans la nouvelle ère de la psychiatrie dynamique, grâce à deux psychiatres français, Paul Guiraud et Jacques Lacan. Le premier l’importe, en 1931, dans le cadre de ses recherches sur les meurtres immotivés. À partir de 1932, le second s’y réfère à quatre reprises, trouvant, en elle, un appui à son élaboration d’une logique de l’acte, selon laquelle le sujet, en frappant l’autre, cherche à atteindre son propre être (1946). Si la notion de kakon semble être, de nos jours, tombée en désuétude dans le champ neurologique, en revanche, son actualisation éclaire d’un jour nouveau la clinique de l’acte, comme l’attestent plusieurs publications récentes
