International audienceThis paper examines the history of the notion of kakon and its psychopathological implications based on the works of three researchers. The notion emerged at the end of the 1910s from the studies of neurologist Constantin von Monakow on the biological features and the liberating effects of hysterical attacks and psychotic crisis. This notion later found a place in the new era of the dynamic psychiatry thanks to two French psychiatrists, Paul Guiraud and Jacques Lacan. The first used it in 1931 in the frame of his research on murders without motives.
