Muscular dysfunction is associated with a worsen outcome for different pathologies. During this thesis, we have focused on mediators of the inflammation, such as cytokines, and their effects on heart and striated muscle function. In the first study, we have shown that the TNF-α decreased the heart contractile force by PKC pathway activation, but that the membrane excitability remained unchanged. In the second study, we showed that IL-13 increased the heart contraction, by the activation of β2 adrenergic - PKA pathway, and increased the membrane excitability of cardiomyocytes associated to an increase of the number of channels at the membrane level.
