Whilst it is common knowledge that fuel combustion in a motorised vehicle generates gaseous and particulate pollution, particles emission caused by a travelling vehicle is accounted for to a much lesser extent. Whether a vehicle is moving on motorways, roads, unpaved roads or industrial soils, it projects particles that are naturally present on the ground. This case represents a significant diffuse emission source, depending principally on the speed of the vehicle, on the load and on the humidity of the road surface material. Studying the aerodynamic behaviour of air in the vicinity of wheels under real conditions is not easy from an experimental point of view and numerical models are difficult to validate. Insufficient knowledge of this is...
