Two laser spectroscopic investigations were performed on the C-1 Sigma(+)-X(1) Sigma(+) (1,0) and (0,0) bands of CO. In the first experiment, using 2 + 1 resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization, information on highly excited rotational states up to J approximate to 50 was obtained. In the second experiment, application of a narrow-band VUV laser provided highly accurate absolute calibrations. Molecular constants for (CO)-C-12-O-16, (CO)-C-13-O-16, (CO)-C-12-O-18, and, for the first time, (CO)-C-12-O-17 derived. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc
