Abstract The genus Fusarium includes a diverse range of ascomycete fungi. Some species are known to cause Fusarium head blight (FHB) and other diseases on small grain cereals like oat, wheat and barley all over the world. Species of Fusarium are not only plant pathogens, but also mycotoxin producing agents, and this makes Fusarium species relevant to human and animal health. During infection, pathogens interact with each other as well as with the plant, and the object of this study was to gain more knowledge of these processes.
