The interpretation of J.S. Bach's Sonata no.1 in G minor for solo violin

Masteroppgave i utøvende musikk, klassisk- Universitetet i Agder 2012This master thesis explores different aspects of the performance of the Sonata No.1 in G-minor BWV 1001 by Johann Sebastian Bach. The research is divided in two parts, each using different methods of research. The first part of the research (written by Stevan Sretenovic) is based on the comparison in performance practice between Baroque and modern violin. The second part (written by Jelena Adamovic) uses three different recordings of the Sonata in order to compare different approaches in performing. The findings and observations of both researches are presented in the Conclusion as well as on the CDs
