This dissertation looks at the issue of water insecurity in India’s small cities and peri-urban areas through a feminist political ecology framework, asking “What do current water distribution practices in urban India tell us about how to sustainably and equitably provide water in rapidly changing or highly-informal cities?” Using ethnographic and archival research, this dissertation contributes to our understanding of two of the most rapidly-changing and under-researched areas of the Indian waterscape.
