Comedian Gullermo Aizarez Guides 11927-2013) was one of the most beloved figures in the history of Cuban popular culture. In tbs lecture. Professor Abort Sergio Laguna analyses Alvarez Guerfes\u27s jokes in order to investigate how Cubans in Miami were imagining themselves politically. Culturally, and racially in the tumultuous 1970s and 1960. Laguna’s work illustrates the centrality of humor and play in a community that has often been described as angry, reactionary, and melancholic.
