deadcalm border and deadcalm tower from closeupatadistance 2016/2017 series photographic work, investigates the topographical landscape of sites rendered impotent and environmentally critical in terms of being unsustainable and culturally at risk, both historically and contemporarily. The work calls into question not only the currency and agency of photography and the image but that of the current state of place, navigation and representation. The structure of the photographs is intended to create a strange/uncanny pictorial meaning, at once static and agitated–denied a single point of focus.
