Multicellular eukaryotic organisms live in constant interaction with microorganisms thatcolonise their surfaces. In the marine environment, macroalgae are colonised bycomplex communities of bacteria, however the mechanisms that drive the assembly andstability of those bacterial communities are poorly understood.
