Treatment of wastewater is imperative for avoiding the spread of disease and preventing environmental imbalances. Traditionally, activated sludge is used to treat a variety of wastewaters, however, microbial granules offer more efficient treatment and have been widely studied in the context of engineering principals and reactor design.
