The break-up of Yugoslavia and the fall of the socialist regime in the Western Balkans have resulted in the launch of a complicated process of democratization whose development was influenced by external and internal factors. The new Constitution of Kosovo, adopted after independence, is largely inspired by the documents approved during the UNMIK mission and provides extensive guarantees for minority communities and their members. The protection of minority groups is confirmed by the rich legislation. © Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften, Frankfurt am Main 2017. All rights reserved
