The increase of toxic cyanobacterial blooms in source waters that can lead to breakthrough into drinking water treatments plants is a worldwide concern. The use of in situ probes allows for the detection of cyanobacterial phycocyanin through fluorescence. It is an innovative technology becoming more widely used. However, to facilitate the implementation of this technology, it must be validated. Several sources of interferences can lead to biases in their application.
