A DESIGN STUDY INTO THE HULL AND PROPULSION SYSTEM MATCHING OF 'MINAJAYA' FISHING VESSEL WITH CHINE AND ROUND BILGE HULL FORM

An investigation into the hull and propulsion system matching of a fishing vessel was carried out. The study was focused on the interaction among ship hull, engine and propeller based on its mission and operational load. 'Minajaya' fishing vessels were chosen as the object of research because this series of vessel have recently been built and will be used widely to promote the Indonesian fishery. This fishing vessel has chine and round bilge form, displacement of 735.2 ??? 812.5 tons (chine type) and 784.6 ??? 862.8 tons (round type), and operated at service speeds of 9.5 and 11.8 knots. \ud The aim of the work was to find out the optimum design of propulsion system. Therefore, the design analysis was focused on the development of a model of propulsion system, started with technical study into resistance characteristics and ship powering based on the vessel???s mission and operational load. The final goal was the investigation of engine, propeller and hull matching. \ud Holtrop method was used to estimate ship resistance and propeller parameters.
