Remarques sur la conscience du collectif dans les réseaux sociotechniques

Comments on the consciousness of the collective in sociotechnical networks The theory of sociotechnical networks bestows on objects the relative autonomy of which instrumental approaches deprive them. It focuses on how objects work and are used, aspects that semiological approaches overlook. As both instruments for aligning conducts and autonomous entities, objects construct networks that, once analyzed, can help us discover the workings of social coordination. Can society be reduced to being the outcome of the purely functional dynamics of these interactions ? Can we not take into consideration the aims of society, which are revealed through the externalized forms of the «consciousness of the collective» that persons work out together by agreeing on normative frameworks for their functional interactions ? Questions are raised about these two dimensions of technical solidarity by contrasting the forms of planned or distributed organization wherein they take shape. Question are asked about the political guidelines capable of defending, in a theoretical context, the integrity of human beings and nonhuman entities.L'article traite de la place tenue par les objets techniques dans le tissage des solidarités entre les humains. Il brosse les grandes lignes de la «solidarité technique», forgée par le fonctionnement des objets dans les réseaux sociotechniques. Il marque la différence entre cette solidarité fonctionnelle et les exigences liées à l'existence du collectif. II compare alors les conditions dans lesquelles cette conscience du collectif trouve à se manifester dans deux formes d'organisation contrastées, et largement représentées dans les entreprises contemporaines : les organisations planifiées et les organisations flexibles.
