The landscapes of the downstream valley of the Canche river are based on a network made on the one hand of dykes, channels and polders that were precociously set since the Middle Ages, and on the other hand of marshes progressively appropriated from the 18th century. By interpreting old maps in association with written sources and with the new topographical map, the landscape's dynamics can be reconstructed from the 1 8th century to nowadays.
