Evolution des caractéristiques de la main d'oeuvre et transformation du processus de production dans l'industrie textile du Nord-Pas-de-Calais

The changes in the technical process of production in the textile industry have major consequences on work and employment. In the North -Pas-de-Calais area, in addition to the reduced number of jobs, several tendencies can be observed : changes in the socioprofessional structure, masculinization of manpower, ageing of the active textile population, greater stability among staff, recentring of the recruitment of staff. The technical modifications result both in the reduction and the concentration of the operations undergone by the product. The increase in the speed of production and in the quantities produced by machine means an increase in the work-load. Above all, and this is probably the most important point for the future, the skills used by the workers are evolving : standardization of the tasks, increase in the number of machines to look after, growth of control to the prejudice of manual intervention. With the new qualifications, gestures of work are replaced by abstract elements in the understanding of mods of operation, organization of working processes and mastery of production processes.Les transformations du processus technique de production de l'industrie textile ont des conséquences profondes sur l'emploi et le travail. Dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais, outre la réduction du nombre des emplois, on peut observer plusieurs tendances : changement de la structure socio-professionnelle, masculinisation des effectifs, vieillissement de la population active textile, stabilité plus grande du personnel, recentrage du recrutement du personnel. Les modifications techniques se traduisent par une réduction et une concentration du nombre des opérations subies par le produit, l'accroissement des vitesses de production et des quantités produites par machine se traduit par une augmentation de la charge de travail. Surtout, et c'est sans doute le point le plus important pour l'avenir, les compétences mises en oeuvres par les travailleurs se modifient : banalisation des tâches, augmentation du nombre de machines à surveiller, rôle croissant du contrôle au détriment de l'intervention manuelle. Les éléments de compréhension abstraite des modes opératoires, de l'organisation du procès du travail, de la maîtrise du processus de production, se substituent à la gestuelle du travail dans les qualifications nouvelles.Rabier Jean-Claude, Boussemart Benoît.
