« Red » school teachers were the favourite target of the reactionary movement which gathered strength in the nnd Republic after the election of Louis- Napoléon Bonaparte (december 1848) and reached its climax in the year 1850. Pending the vote of the organic law on instruction and teaching (the famous « Loi Falloux », March 15th, 1850), the Secretary of State, de Parieu, ensures a vote of urgency in the legislative assembly for a « minor law » which, passed on January 1 lth, 1850, makes it easier for the perfects to dismiss undesirable teachers.
