Recent research on teaching history-geography has highlighted that this school subject marginalizes the personal expression of pupils as individuals. The didactic interaction between a teacher and his pupils aims the construction of a consensual text of the history-geography lesson to learn. This text whose aim is “ to live together” rubs off individual standpoints and discussions. When one’s teaching touches personal dimensions that are constitutive of the identity construction of individuals (the study of religious facts), debates based on arguments can offer a fertile teaching alternative allowing to tackle questions that have become socially sensitive in our multi-cultural society if we bear in mind the respect of the principles of secu...
