Innovations en médecine arabe entre les IXe et XIII e siècles

Innovations in arabic medicine from the 9th to the 13th centuries – From the 9th century and for more than five centuries, the Arab speaking physicians, tireless translators of Greek treatises on which they based their conceptions of art, enriched the scientific equipment at their disposal by explanations and comments. Reflection led them sometimes to challenge the teaching of the Ancients and to search new ideas that led to medical advances, to develop methods and techniques and study of specific diseases. Examples illustrate this point of view : anatomical discoveries of by` Abd al-Latif al-Baghdadi and Ibn al-Nafis, minor surgical techniques in with Ibn Zuhr (Avenzoar), methods of extraction and dental prothesis in with Al-Zahrawi (Albucasis), study of melancholy in with Ishaq ibn ` Imran.À partir du IXe siècle et pendant plus de cinq siècles, les médecins d’expression arabe traducteurs infatigables des traités grecs sur lesquels ils ont fondé les conceptions de leur art, ont enrichi le matériel scientifique ainsi à leur disposition d’explications et de commentaires. La réflexion les a conduits à contester parfois l’enseignement des Anciens et à rechercher des idées nouvelles qui ont mené à des avancées médicales, à des mises au point de méthodes et de techniques ainsi qu’à l’étude de pathologies particulières. Des exemples illustrent ce point de vue : découvertes anatomiques d’` abd al-Lat îf al-Baghdâdî et d’Ibn al-Nafîs, techniques de petite chirurgie chez Ibn Zuhr (Avenzoar), méthodes d’extraction et de prothèses dentaires chez Al-Zahrâwî (Albucasis), étude de la mélancolie chez Ish âq ibn ` imrân.Ricordel Joëlle.
