The Solutrean and particularly the Middle Solutrean is a period that is very poorly understood in the Île-de-France region. With the exception of the site of Saint-Sulpice-de-Favières (Essonne), excavated by Beatrice Schmider between 1983 and 1985, and some chance finds which may or may not be leaf-shaped points, very little material from this period has been identified until now. New excavations undertaken in September 2012 on the site of Ormesson (near Nemours, Seine-et-Marne), better known for its dated Gravettian occupation and including faunal vestiges, but also a perfectly preserved Mousterian occupation and, more recently, a Châtelperronian level, produced fragments of laurel– leaf points from an extremely well-preserved context, and...
