Two case studies of the so-called "Travaux Personnels Encadrés" (TPE) (independent projects tutored) were conducted during the school year in two highschools in scientific classes (1ère S, 17 years old). To analyse this new pedagogical model, the role of the student’s written log, the respective importance of scientific approach and contents, as well as the place of scientific experiments are clarified. For each topic, a content analysis of official curriculum and different data collected (interviews and class documents in each high-school) was carried out.
