Is it Possible to Talk about Radical Democracy in Athens? The notion of “radical democracy”, which scarcely has an equivalent in ancient Greek, has often been understood as deviating from an ideal regime, more or less contemporary with the age of Pericles. Yet a close examination of literary sources and the input of social sciences allow for far more nuanced conclusions.
