Geology of the «Pierre Dorée » Formation in the Monts d'Or and Beaujolais area (Eastern France). A recent study of sedimentary structures of the «Pierre Dorée » Formation, in the Monts d'Or and Beaujolais area (Eastern France), gave precise information about nature and evolution of the depositional environment of this calcareous serie, related to the Aalenian stage (Middle Jurassic) [Rousselle, 1997]. At this time, the considered area was part of a shallow submarine shelf where carbonate sediments, deriving first from crinoidal colonies, were moved and distributed by storm and tidal currents.
