Pulp and paper mills utilize huge amounts of inorganic and organic materials along with large quantities of water in the different stages of paper manufacturing. In this study, soda pulping effluent or black liquor from three different dilution concentrations (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 ppm) were treated with white-rot fungus, Oxyporus latemarginatus, to reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD) and colour (Pt-Ct). The results showed that the COD reduction of 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 effluent dilution were 82 %, 72 % and 67 %, respectively. BOD and COD showed similar trends in lower concentrations with treatment. The results showed that O. latemarginatus has potential in treating pulp and paper effluent
