This study was conducted to investigate the influence of individual and organizational factors on career advancement of academics in private IHLs in Malaysia. This study used the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) to predict career advancement among the academics. A stratified random sampling method was used to select a population of 221 respondents from among six private IHLs. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive analysis, Pearson product-moment and multiple regression analysis. Analyses were carried out primarily to examine the profiles of respondents and the characteristics of the individual and organizational factors, as well as factors that influence academics’ career advancement.
