Problem statement: The third order nonlinear optical properties of metal nanoparticles have been of interest in physical chemistry, medical diagnostics and optical devices. Gold colloidal nanoparticles are responsible for the brilliant reds seen in stained glass windows and silver particles are typically yellow.
