: Public Life of Vršovice from the second half of the 19th century until the beginning of the 20th century

This bachelor thesis deals with the development of public life in Vrsovice. the topic is determined for years 1869-1922, which is a time period in which the steepest development of this area is observed. This time period ends with the affiliation of this municipality to Prague. The aim of this thesis was to find out factors with the highest influence on the development of Vrsovice for the stated time period, to understand how the development of this municipality reflected upon its public life and to explore reactions of the municipality selfgovernment to this development. At first the thesis observes the development of Vrsovice from the extreme spaectators point of view. Secondly the thesis defines the nature of Vrsovice - looking at its composition of inhabitants and changes of this composition over time as the municipality developed and the differences between the inhabitants of Vrsovice and its surrounding municipalities. The process of the city's growth and urbanisation project including selected public buildings and education is also analyzed within the thesis. This process is observed together with the population growth as these two phenomena are interconnected.
