Adjective - Noun Collocations in Present-Day Czech and their Italian Couterparts

This bachelor thesis deals with adjective - noun collocations in present-day Czech and their Italian counterparts. The theoretical part provides definitions of some terms (word, lexeme, multi- word name, multiword expressions, term and idiom) and of other phenomena (collocability, semantic compatibility, collocation paradigm and cranberry words), which are closely related to collocations and on which I base both the definition of the term collocation itself and the subsequent analysis. Practical part briefly describes used sources and the method of looking up the most frequent Czech adjective - noun collocations of four nouns selected for purposes of this thesis (way, price, eye and word) in the corpora SYN2015. Subsequently their possible Italian counterparts are analysed using available Czech-Italian dictionaries and corpora InterCorp and Araneum Italicum Maius. In the last subchapters and in the conclusion are summarized the results of the analysis, its shortcomings and possible suggestions for next research
