Cross-gender friendship and infidelity in partnership

Bachelor thesis called "Cross-sex friendship and partner infidelity" is focused on the phenomenon of cross-sex friendship. Amounts of cross-sex friendships are growing, therefore an interesting question of how this relationship is related to an already existing partnership, appears. The theoretical part is close interpersonal relationship (friendship and partnership) oriented, as well as it focuses on partner infidelity. The following practical part is focused on intimity in both friendships and partnerships, on the quality of a partnership, and the link between these variables and partner infidelity. Results have proven that cross-sex friendship intimity is not related to neither partner intimity nor the quality of a partnership, but it correlated positively with the same-sex friendship intimity. On the contrary, same-sex friendship intimity, only in men, was connected positively with the emotional intimity in a partnership, but it did not correlate with the quality of a partnership neither in men nor in women. Only in women did cross sex friendship intimity positively correlate with the tendency to partner infidelity. Further, in women, this tendency to partner infidelity was negatively connected to verbal intimity in a partnership. In men the relation between partnership quality, same or cross sex friendship intimity and tendency to infidelity was not confirmed
