Prosthetic limbs are often very expensive and if an amputee is uninsured, their options are very limited. Through the advancements of EMG (electromyography) in the Myo armband and 3D printing in the area of prosthetics, the opportunity to create an affordable but effective prosthetic hand is very feasible. In order to successfully design an affordable and effective 3D printed hand that incorporates the Myo armband’s EMG technology, the hand will perform different human-like gestures including a point, a grip, and a fine pinch. The hand will also be portable and able to last for a full day’s use on battery life.
