α-mangostin is a potential p53 activator found in the extract of a fruit found in Southeast Asia. When it activates p53, the cells should arrest their cell cycles. Paclitaxel works by attacking the cells as they enter their mitosis phase. If the cells are in cell cycle arrest and never enter mitosis, they should not begin apoptosis as a result of the Paclitaxel treatment
