The paper aims to discuss the importance of speech acts in a particular type of political discourse, namely the “integration discourse” from two opposite viewpoints: that of the politician whose country looks forward to being integrating and that of the politician whose country integrates, situates therefore at the other end of the same axis of interest. It suggests that this type of discourse is mainly an active one, as its purpose being is, given the necessary conditions, to create a reality rather than describe an existing one, even, if necessary, by manipulating the audience according to the speaker’s interests
