Background and Objectives: Leishmaniasis as a zoonosis disease, occurs in three forms of cutaneous, mucocutaneous, and visceral (kala-azar). The causative agent of this disease is a protozoa of the Leishmania genus, which is commonly transmitted by species of sand flies.
