The paper considers the narrative techniques in the novels Laž (written in 1905) by Rudolf Kolarić Kišur, Karikature (written in 1908) by Mijo Radošević and Isušena kaljuža (written between 1906 and 1909, published in 1957) by Janko Polić Kamov. Dealing with the corpus of narrative texts in the period of Croatian literary modernism, literary criticism has emphasised the modernity of these texts which is primarily evident in the layers of subject and theme.
