Scientific background: The posterior leucoencephalopathy (PLES) is a clinico-radiological syndrome characterised by headache, nausea, vomiting, disturbances in cognition, depressed level of consciousness, visual abnormalities and convulsions. It is commonly associated with malignant hypertension, toxemia of pregnancy or use of immunosuppressive agents.
