Objective: Leptin and adiponectin are the most important adipocytokines and recent studies showed that they may have role in the etiology of ischemic stroke. However, the effect of adipocytokines on stroke is not yet well understood, and related studies are confusing. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of serum leptin and adiponectin levels on patients with acute ischemic stroke who were admitted to hospital within 24 hours of stroke. Materials and Methods: A total of 59 patients with acute ischemic stroke and 24 healthy individuals similar in age and sex to the patients were enrolled in the study.
