This article presents the comparative analysis of two most wide-spread in political science approaches to the study of the think tanks. The author offers a new multimodel approach to the definition of think tanks, based on national models, as opposed to the traditional paradigm that focuses attention on the universalization of the American experience. Multimodel approach allows us to identify the specific features of «think tanks» on the national and global level
