The objective of the research reported in this paper is to design, implement, and test a computerbased system which allows its user to: (1) extract automatically the geometric, topological, and spatial structures of an architectural plan, (2) extract morphological information, such as axes of symmetry, hierarchical structure, proportions, and modularity from architectural plans, and (3) compare morphological information of classes of architectural plans. Computer vision and pattern recognition techniques are used
