A method for finding the form of surface structures with free edges is presented. The necessary conditions are derived, based on a classification of surface structures to elliptic, hyperbolic and parabolic structures suggested by the author. The method is demonstrated on hyperbolic structures with and without straight line generators. A new form is developed: An hyperbolic paraboloid with generator lines and four free edges. Numerical examples are given, and the properties of each structure are investigate
