Effects of different growing media on seedling quality of caper (capparis ovata desf.)

Yüksek Lisans TeziABSTRACT : Caper (Capparis ovata Desf.) can be used to prevent destruction of the forests by providing an economical source to inhabitant and in order to combate against the soil erosion. The growing healthy and the best quality seedlings is an important issue in plantation and erosion control studies. Seedling morphology is an important indicator to obtain high quality seedlings. The mixtures of different materials such as road slope soil + sand (1:1), forest soil + creek sand + manure (3:1:1), forest soil and road slope soil, and polyethylene pots of different dimensions such as 12-22 cm, 15-23 cm, 19-30 cm were used as seedling growing media and pot in this study. The study was carred out to determine the effects of these different seedling growing media and polyethylene pots on some morphological seedling characters such as seedling height (SH), root collar diameter (RCD), fresh shoot weight (FSW), dry shoot weight (DSW), fresh root weight (FRW) and dry root weigh (DRW). The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replications (30 polyethylene pots for each replication) for every treatment under open field conditions. According to statistical analyses (?=0.05), the best SH (167.30 mm) and RCD (2.01 mm), were obtained from the growing media of forest soil + creek sand + manure (3:1:1) with polyethylene pots had 19-30 cm dimension. The best FRW (3.4540 gr), FSW (1.2819gr), DRW (1.3617gr) and DSW (0.4387gr) were determined from forest soil + creek sand + manure (3:1:1) growing media with the pots had 15-23 cm dimension.Kapari (Capparis ovata Desf.) ormanlar üzerinde sosyal baskının yoğun olduğu yerlerde, halka geçim kaynağı sağlayarak ormanların tahrip olmasını engellemek ve erozyonla mücadele etmek için önemli bir bitki türüdür. Ağaçlandırma ve erozyon kontrol çalışmalarında kullanılan fidanların sağlıklı ve kaliteli olması başarı için önemli faktörledir. Fidanın morfolojik özellikleri kaliteli fidanı belirlemede önemli ve sık kullanılan belirteçlerden birisidir. Bu çalışmada üç farklı boyutta (12-22 cm, 15-23 cm, 19-30 cm) hazırlanan polietilen tüplerde, dört farklı yetiştirme ortamı, şev toprağı + kum (1:1), orman toprağı, orman toprağı + ahır gübresi + kum (3:1:1), şev toprağı kullanılmıştır. Kullanılan bu yetiştirme ortamı ve tüp boyutlarının sürgün boyu (SB), kök boğazı çapı (KBÇ), gövde taze ağırlığı (GTA), gövde kuru ağırlığı (GKA), kök taze ağırlığı (KTA) ve kök kuru ağırlığı (KKA) gibi bazı morfolojik fidan karakterleri üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Çalışma açık alan koşullarında, tesadüfi bloklar deneme desenine göre üç yinelemeli (her bir yinelemede 30 adet tüp) olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. İstatistik analiz sonuçlarına göre (?=0.05), en iyi FB (167.30 mm) ve KBÇ gelişimi (2.01 mm), orman toprağı + ahır gübresi + kum (3:1:1) karışımından oluşan yetiştirme ortamı ile 19-30 cm boyutlarındaki tüplerde elde edilmiştir. En iyi KTA (3.4540 gr), GTA (1.2819gr), KKA (1.3617gr) ve GKA (0.4387gr) ise orman toprağı + ahır gübresi + kum (3:1:1) karışımından oluşan yetiştirme ortamı ile 15-23 cm boyutlarındaki tüplerde meydana gelmiştir
