This paper considers the challenges that can arise for management of higher education institutions in addressing the issue of gender-based violence on campus. This is an issue that has become increasingly problematic in recent years (Universities UK, 2016). The study focused on student and staff perceptions of gender-based violence. In turn this paper draws on the issues raised from the original research and highlights the aspects that have placed universities under pressure in how they govern and manage gender-based violence. A case study approach, using a large modern city university, was chosen as most appropriate to the aim of the original study.
